Hard of Hearing

Individuals who are hard-of-hearing have differing amounts of hearing loss. Yet the amount of hearing loss is not enough to be classified as deaf. This hearing disorder can be frustrating because the quality of hearing can vary from one situation to another. In order to cope, they utilize hearing aids and lip-reading to supplement their hearing so that they can understand others. Many with this hearing disorder find that they can hear low tones (lower frequency ranges) with more clarity; it is easier to hear a man talking compared to a woman.
