Approximately 6.8 million people suffer from the anxiety disorder of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Women are twice as likely to suffer from GAD and comorbidity is very likely. GAD is a disorder that is long-lasting and does not have a focus on a particular object or situation. Everyday living is filled with persistent fear and worry. Many older adults suffer from generalized anxiety disorder. Symptoms of this set of disorders are wide-ranging: fatigue, fidgeting, headaches, nausea, muscle aches and insomnia.
