Bulimia Nervosa
Bulimia nervosa, another one of the eating disorders identified, is different in the way it manifests itself. It is a cycle of binge eating, guilt and attempts to make amends by crash dieting, purging, or over exercising. Bulimia nervosa is a disorder that appears to be more prevalent among late adolescents and young adults. Up to 19% of college aged women in America are bulimic. Bulimics have self-described “binge foods” that they consume during the cycle which leads to a feeling of euphoria. The recovery rate for those with this disorder is high at 70%.
